How we work with you

01

We understand the matter

The first step is understanding the situation properly. We take the time to understand what has happened, where things currently stand, what matters to you and what you are trying to achieve. Depending on the circumstances, this may involve an initial conversation, reviewing documents and correspondence, understanding the people or organisations involved and identifying any immediate issues, deadlines or priorities. This gives us a clearer picture of the matter before determining what support is actually required.

02

We define the approach

Once we understand the situation, we consider the most appropriate way to support you. Some matters require a clearly defined piece of work. Others involve several interconnected issues, different capabilities or support over a longer period. Rather than fitting the matter into a standard process, we determine what is proportionate to the circumstances and objectives. We identify the work Legalstone can undertake, the capabilities that may be required and any areas where specialist or regulated professional input is needed. This creates a practical framework for moving forward before unnecessary work or cost is incurred.

03

We build the right team

Different matters require different perspectives. Once the approach is clear, we bring together the people and capabilities appropriate to the work. This may involve Legalstone consultants, regulated solicitors, researchers, analysts and other internal capabilities, alongside external solicitors, barristers, experts, investigators or specialist professionals where required. Not every matter needs a large team. Our aim is to involve the right people at the right stage, keeping the structure proportionate to what the matter actually requires. As circumstances change, the team can evolve with them. Additional expertise can be introduced when needed while maintaining continuity across the wider matter.

04

We agree the scope

Before substantive work begins, we establish what Legalstone will be doing, how the work will be delivered and the basis on which you will be charged. The scope will reflect the nature of the matter. For clearly defined work, we may agree a fixed fee. More complex projects may require a tailored scope and fee structure, while businesses requiring regular support may work with us on an ongoing basis. Where external professionals are required, we also explain how they fit into the matter and, where possible, how their involvement will be structured. The objective is straightforward: you should understand what is being done, who is involved and the anticipated cost before the work progresses.

05

We move the matter forward

Once the approach is agreed, we move into delivery. We carry out the work within our scope, coordinate the different elements and keep attention focused on the actions required to progress the matter. Where several people or workstreams are involved, we help keep information, responsibilities and next steps connected. Communication remains an important part of the process. We keep you informed of material developments, explain what needs attention and provide a clear view of where things stand. The aim is not simply to complete individual tasks, but to ensure those tasks contribute to moving the wider matter towards the objective.

06

We adapt as things develop

Not every matter follows the path expected at the beginning. New information may emerge, priorities can change, negotiations can develop and additional issues may need to be addressed. When that happens, we reassess the position with you and adapt the approach where appropriate. That might mean changing priorities, expanding or narrowing the scope, bringing in another capability or involving an external professional. By maintaining an understanding of the wider matter, we can help you respond to developments without losing sight of the overall objective.
